Strengthen Solidarity in a Foreign Land, Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore Attends IMAS Cross-Border Gathering

Buanatoday.com.Singapura- Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, together with Mrs. Noeri Widowati, by the invitation of the Indonesian Muslim Association in Singapore (IMAS) attended an iftar event held on 16 March 2025 at the An-Nahdhah Mosque, Bishan, Singapore. The event with the theme “Cross-Border Friendship: Weaving Togetherness in a Foreign Land in Harmony” was attended by around 700 Indonesian citizens living in Singapore.

In his remarks, Ambassador Suryo Pratomo expressed his gratitude and appreciation for the invitation from IMAS to be able to attend this meaningful event. In front of the Indonesian people present, he said that having iftar together is not only about sharing food, but also about strengthening ties between each other, strengthening a sense of togetherness, and getting closer to Allah SWT. He was pleased to be able to meet directly with Indonesian Muslims in Singapore, and hoped that this event would be an opportunity to continue to maintain good relations, both between fellow Indonesian citizens and with the Singaporean community.

The theme of the event “Cross-Border Friendship” reflects the spirit of establishing closer relations between Indonesian people living abroad and each other, as well as between Indonesia and Singapore, especially in building peace and harmony. The breaking of the fast together event was preceded by several activities and competitions such as storytelling, SMEs product bazaar, Instagram reels competition, and Al-Quran reciting competition.

In addition to having iftar together, the event was also filled with various quizzes and competitions for children and teenagers. Before iftar, a short sermon was delivered by Uztadz Ulul Azmi, imam of the Sultan Mosque in Singapore, who reminded the importance of maintaining Islamic brotherhood and maintaining spiritual resilience during the month of Ramadan, especially in a foreign land.

The Chairperson of IMAS, Lailus Shobah, hopes that this event can be a momentum to continue to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood between Indonesian citizens in Singapore, as well as increase concern for each other, both in daily life and in carrying out worship during the holy month of Ramadan.***
